Awareness raising is the main focus of KAMPS. Data shows that at least 60 percent of kidney disease can be prevented if it is detected at an early stage; therefore, people need to be made aware of lifestyle changes and the importance of regular kidney screening. Giving due emphasis to this, KAMPS organizes various awareness-raising programs almost throughout the year. Earlier, only 5 percent of people knew about the organ called the kidney, its activity, and its diseases; today, at least 60 percent of people are aware of the kidney, its diseases, and how to prevent kidney disease. Bringing this change was possible through massive awareness campaigns by different government and private-sector organizations in the country. KAMPS has played a pivotal role in changing this data through its relentless awareness-raising campaign. Today, KAMPS has become one of the leading kidney-related organizations in the country under the dynamic leadership of eminent nephrologist Professor Dr. M. A. Samad. KAMPS organizes seminars, symposiums, roundtable discussions, and rallies in Dhaka and outside Dhaka. A roundtable meeting is organized every year based on the theme of World Kidney Day. KAMPS also brings out special supplements in Bengali and English newspapers highlighting the comments, recommendations, and citations of the speakers at the roundtable meeting. The recommendations made in the roundtable meeting help the government or policymakers prepare guidelines or policies in the health sector, particularly on kidney issues.
KAMPS works to prevent kidney disease through awareness, screening guidance, patient support, dialysis support at selected centers, and community health programs in Bangladesh.
